I started my handmade soap and bath and body business, Jo-Jo Bean's Bath Treats, September 2013 in my home kitchen. I can remember as a small child mixing lotions, shaving cream, body wash and cologne in the bathroom sink to see what would happen. My mother would get so upset, and rightly so!! Eventually my love of mixing and experimentation moved from the bathroom sink to the kitchen. I am a foodie!! I love to take simple ingredients and make healthy, yet luxurious meals.

In the spring of 2013 I decided to try and make a sugar scrub for myself. I mixed olive oil, brown sugar, baking soda and vanilla extract together. I loved the way it made my skin feel!! That simple scrub made my skin glow and ignited something inside me. I started researching how to make sugar scrubs, body butters, lip balms, bath salts and bath bombs by watching YouTube and by purchasing books. A gentle nudge from a friend landed me with a table at a Downtown craft show--- and from there things just took off.

Our products are bright, colorful, fun, sparkle and shimmer. My love for baking can be seen in our Bakery Bath Treats. Our Bath Donuts are glazed with a Cocoa Butter Bath Truffle glaze, our Bubble Cupcakes are Frosted with Bubble Bath and our Bubble Bath Scoops resemble scoops of ice cream. Some of our soaps are shaped like cupcakes and cakes or pies. We frequently hear "These look good enough to eat!"

Even with my love of all things fun and sparkly, I have always focused on using simple ingredients which are free from as many chemicals as possible. My children and I all have various skin sensitivities ranging from extreme dryness to eczema. I found that the simple formulations made from luxurious ingredients helped to soothe and improve the appearance of our skin.
